Meet Mrs. Emma Long-Ingram
My name is Emma Long-Ingram. I am the current District Art Educator at Lexington Community Unit School District #7 in Lexington, Illinois. There, I am lucky enough to teach Kindergarten all that way up to seniors in high school! It is such a rare opportunity to watch my students grow up and I feel privileged to be a small part of their life's journey. I believe deeply in providing a holistic art experience for my students where they feel safe, loved, and most importantly unafraid to be creatively authentic.
Prior to being welcomed to the Lexington district in 2012, I attended Illinois State University majoring in Art Education and minoring in Art History. I believe strongly in educating students on the importance of art and the creativity and the passion that accompanies it. I truly can't believe I get to wake up each day and do just that!
In July of 2017, I married my best friend and fellow art educator, Sam Ingram (Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School). We met and were engaged in Illinois State University's Center for the Visual Arts. I love that we get to share all kinds of inspiration and collaborate during our annual Heart Of Illinois Conference Art Festival. Our favorite collaboration is our son, Forrest. I find myself happiest when creating and enjoying the beauty of nature with my them. We love to kayak, hike, and take adventures just about anywhere.
I am currently working towards my master's degree in art education through Eastern Illinois University. This program is helping me expand my knowledge and skills in order to provide my students with a high-quality art education. I am also hopeful to find my artistic voice again through this experience, since it has been years since I felt I was a "practicing artist."
This website is a way for me to connect with students, stay in contact with parents, and share ideas with colleagues. I hope you have found something that inspires you on your visit here today!
